Capturing the beauty of Colorado, three Discovery Canyon Campus (DCC) student artists created captivating pieces for Youth Art Month (YAM). Hannah Baumgartner, Allie Harting and Julia Kobayashi’s art can now be viewed at the Colorado State Capitol through March 7.
“I am so proud of these kids! I love that they show their love for Colorado by using their amazing artistic talents. These girls belong in the art world and I am proud their works will be showcased in our great state capital,” said Shell Acker, DCC middle school, art teacher.
When asked about her inspiration, Harting, an eighth-grader, called upon her experience living in more than 25 different countries.
“Drawing and painting played an important role in exploring my environment and the world around me,” said Harting.
Similarly, Kobayashi has always had a passion for art. DCC’s numerous arts classes have helped her grow her skills. YAM provides a medium for recognizing skills developed through visual arts experiences. It also serves to encourage support for quality school art programs, from which countless students have benefitted.
