Happy New Year! I hope you had a great holiday break and your 2019 has started smoothly. We returned on Jan. 2 and hit the ground running.
Our staff and teachers participated in our first Professional Leaning day of the new year. We were lucky to have Alan November, an international leader in helping schools improve the quality of education through technology join us. Alan’s keynote speech was both eye-opening and inspiring.
The School Choice Window is now open. We invite you to learn more about the unique programs and curriculums at our schools by attending a School Choice Information Night. Please visit our website, asd20.org, to learn more, and remember, the Choice Window closes Feb. 28.
Many of you know earlier this fall I announced my retirement. Our Board of Education has begun its search for the individual who will have the great honor of leading our district. They are working with the search firm Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates who will hold two district-wide community forums. Please consider attending one of these forums to provide your feedback. Our website has all of the details.
And last, but certainly not least, I want to provide a friendly reminder we are accepting applications for our Hall of Excellence through Feb. 15. If you know someone who has made a lasting contribution to our district, please consider nominating them for this prestigious honor. Once again, all the details are listed at asd20.org. I sense a theme here.
Again, happy new year and I look forward to seeing you at the schools!
