A few times a year I work a job other than my own and today happened to be one of those times. This morning I showed up bright and early to Frontier Elementary, so I could work as one of the school’s Crossing Guards.
I had a great time and made a lot of new friends, but I must tell you as I watched our elementary students head to school, there was no denying we are just days away from the holiday break.
As one first grader enthusiastically told me, “Dr. Hatchell, we only have two more sleeps until break!”
But before we close up shop for 2018, I’d like to reflect on the first half of the school year. Our marching bands performed well at both the regional and state levels and we had several athletic teams win and compete for state titles.
We were Accredited with Distinction for the 10th straight year and our student’s CMAS scores are the best we’ve ever experienced.
Plus, we are making great progress on our bond projects, even finishing several key pieces of construction. We really do have much to celebrate as we enter the holiday season.
I would like to take a moment and express my gratitude to each of you. Thank you for an amazing start to our school year and all you do to make our district such a special place. May the coming weeks be full of joy, peace and much deserved relaxation. Happy holidays!
