October was jam packed with one-of-a-kind activities. Earlier this month Liberty High School hosted 23 marching bands in the Southern Band Regional. More than 2,000 students performed, and I am happy to report Academy District 20 bands stole the show. In the 4A category Air Academy placed first, while Liberty took 3rd, Pine Creek finished 4th and Rampart came in 5th.
Just this week we held our annual College Fair. More than 50 colleges and universities from across the region answered questions and provided information to a record setting turnout of 633 district families.
We also had a very special visit this month from the Colorado Court of Appeals. Pine Creek High School was selected as one of only a handful of schools in Colorado to host the Courts in the Community program. A three-judge panel heard oral arguments in two appeal cases and after each hearing our students asked counsel questions about their careers and Colorado law.
And last, but certainly not least, we joined the Bryan Construction team in celebrating the final steel beam of Chinook Trail Middle School being placed during a ceremonious Topping Off Ceremony.
October has truly been a fun month, and I’m excited to see what November holds. And if the meteorologists are right, it sounds like we might start seeing more snow. So please don’t forget to make sure all of your contact information is correct in our systems and also remember, we’ll always let you know about weather closures and delays no later than 6 a.m. via our website, social media, email and text.
