Every time a student (past and present) takes the time to thank me for having a positive im-pact on their life.

What advice would you give your younger self ?
Talk less and understand more, or as Covey would say: seek first to understand, then be understood.
Why is education the field for you?
The catalyst for my success in life is attributed to my 8th grade teacher (who is standing with me in the picture above); she found a very smart, but unmotivated student and taught me to be successful by setting and achieving attainable goals. Her belief in my abilities set my life on a path that taught me to excel at every chal-lenge. In April1999, I was a United States Army Green Beret in Germany. While home on leave I watched in horror the events unfold at Colum-bine High School. I turned to my wife and said I want to be a middle school principal and impact kids before things like this can happen again.
